Take a half-day trip to the top of the falls on the south bank of the River Nile. A ranger will guide you around the various stunning view points of the thunderous Murchison Falls and also its sister falls, Uhuru, which was created in 1962 when the river burst its banks. Timing is flexible so why not take along some refreshing drinks in our cool box and a packed breakfast/lunch or sundowners from Red Chilli?! Enjoy the fresh air and scenery from our specially adapted open air game-drive vehicle. This trip can also be extended to a full-day to include a game drive on the honeymoon track, which starts just before you reach the falls and from which it’s quite possible to find lion, as well as many other mammal species. Please note that this excursion involves some hiking and a basic level of fitness is required, as well as sensible shoes.
08.00 or 14.00 (or at a time that suits you) Depart from Red Chilli, Murchison

09.00 or 15.00 Arrive at the top of Falls and enjoy a guided hike
It takes around one hour to reach the top of the falls, depending on what wildlife you might encounter along the way. On arrival you will meet your Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger who will tell you a little bit about the history of the National Park and its iconic Falls. You will take in the various stunning views of the falls and afterwards climb up over the top of the bat cave for some breathtaking views of the 2 falls together (Uhuru and Murchison), as well as the Nile downstream. If you are feeling fit you can walk all the way down to Baker’s rock on the shores of the Nile and from where boat trips dock for views of Murchison Falls.

Red Chilli Hideaway
We loved this place. One of our best stays, highly recommend. The only budget stay in the national park. Note you won't be able to get there by public transport. However the camp has a contact Sam, who can help with this. Stayed in a basic banda, very clean, spacious and comfortable. Shower block was ok, cold water showers, but you are camping and the weather was warm, so no problem. The communal bar, dining area and fire pit was a great place to relax and chill out. Get up for the sunrise by the fire pit, it's worth it. Very reasonable prices, good breakfast, which they pack up for you if you have an early start. Recommend the sausage rolex. Very good! Great staff and helpful manager on site. Probably the best thing about here is the onsite wildlife that you encounter. We regularly saw baboons with their babies, pumbas, (warthogs) and even had a 3.30am visit outside the Banda by a couple of hippos. Very exciting! If you are looking for an affordable, rustic and authentic experience in the park, then this is the place to be. - Charlotte
